L.A. based hip-hop collective Odd Future Wolfgang Kill Them All (abbreviated as OFWGKTA or Odd Future) has been gaining a lot of media attention over the past months; but in actuality, the majority of their recent fame is primarily due to the rise of Odd Future de facto leader Tyler, The Creator.
As a rapper/producer, Tyler released his debut album “Bastard” in 2009 at the age of 18 (which so far is arguably the most popular Odd Future album) and has played a part in nearly every other OFWGKTA release to date. If you’re interested in more detailed explanation of the Odd Future background, Pitchfork recently wrote a solid roundup of all the Odd Future mixtapes (of which most can be found as free downloads on Odd Future’s tumblr, http://oddfuture.tumblr.com/).

Check out the music video for Tyler, The Creator’s latest single “Yonkers” from his upcoming album Goblin (to be released May 10th on XL Recordings) below………..Seriously though, listen to this, it’s amazing. I haven’t heard lyrics so bizarrely awesome since early Eminem.
I am so glad I finally realized who these guys were before I could have potentially missed their heavily anticipated set at Coachella, which I will now make sure not to do because it’s going to be fucking bonkers. If you want to get an idea of what it might be like, check out the video below of Odd Future’s recent tv performance of “Sandwitches” on the Jimmy Fallon Late show.
